CERAMICS & INDUSTRY Ceramics are broadly defined as “inorganic, nonmetallic materials that exhibit such useful properties as high strength and hardness, high melting temperatures, chemical inertness, and low thermal and electrical conductivity but that also display brittleness and sensitivity to flaws” (Merriam-Webster, 2018). We announced in January that National Clay Week’s focus for 2018 is exploring clay in all its forms through the lens of industry. NCW will define the topics we are highlighting within industrial ceramics. We will feature both small-batch makers who are producing large-scale and some of the largest manufacturers of ceramic products in the US. We will showcase production
