Thursday: Nuts and Bolts with The Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen, China

For Nuts & Bolts day of National Clay Week: Community, we’ve partnered with the Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen, China, the city of “white gold.” The Pottery Workshop Jingdezhen is an international ceramics center focusing on the development and enrichment of ceramics in China and abroad. They host an international artist residency located in the center of hundreds of industrial and independent craftspeople and artists, all working in clay. Our partners are conducting interviews with visiting international artists and local Chinese artists to see how both sides have been impacted by the residency program, and to discuss how a multi-lingual, multi-cultural studio partnership in the heart of Ch

Wednesday: Collaborations with Clementine Porcelain

For Wednesday of Clay Week we’ve teamed up with two organizations, Manchester Crafts Guild Youth & Arts Program (more on this later) and Clementine Porcelain, who will be sharing their Plate Project as an organizational model for charitable action. About Clementine Porcelain: Founded in 2006, Tracy Shell and Jesse Ross, as a production porcelain studio. They named it after their daughter, Clementine, and developed the Plate Projects as an example of community, compassion, and giving. The Plate Project benefits 100% their local food bank’s Backpack Program. Most areas around the US have Backpack Programs (ask your local or regional food bank to find yours).
